Hotpoint bought out Indesit in December 2021 for £121m. Since then, the two brands have become known as the same company.
Hints & Tips
Hotpoint has a rich history of collaborations with companies from all over the world. However, Hotpoint started as the ‘Hotpoint Electric Heating Company’ in 1911 with iron as its first major project. Since then, Hotpoint has continued its mission to make your life easier at home with the development of others products, from the Hotpoint Ultima S line washing machine to the Hotpoint graphite cooker. Today, an appliance made by Hotpoint is sold in the UK every 19 seconds, and you will find a Hotpoint appliance in 2 out of 3 homes.
As Hotpoint Electric Heating Company grew from making electric irons in 1912, by 1919, it was creating electric cookers. It had invented the first iron to switch off when it reached a maximum temperature automatically. This was a huge development in the home and kitchen appliances industry at the time.
Following a few mergers over the following few decades, the brand was restructured, and Indesit was bought out by Hotpoint in 2001. Since then, Hotpoint has gone from strength to strength and went on to be voted as a UK Consumer Superbrand for 2015.
