  • Schools in Hertfordshire and Hampshire are set to welcome students back on September 2, 2024.
  • The Royal Greenwich School District will commence its term on September 2, 2024, concluding on October 25, 2024. A break for half-term is planned from October 28, 2024, until November 1, 2024.
  • Sheffield’s academic schedule is divided into two segments, starting September 2 through October 25, 2024, and resuming from November 4 until the term ends on December 20, 2024.
  • In Sandwell, the full term stretches from September 2 to December 20, 2024, including a half-term pause (October 28 – November 1, 2024) and a Christmas break scheduled from December 23, 2024, to January 3, 2025.

What age do kids start school?

Generally, children start full-time school in September after their fourth birthday. Your child should turn five during their first year at school.

How should I prepare for when the kids start school?

Starting school is a significant milestone that can be both exciting and challenging for both you and your children. Therefore, it’s crucial to prepare as early as possible to ensure a smooth transition. Begin by establishing a consistent routine, which will help them adjust to the structured timetable of school life.

Additionally, make an effort to socialise them with other children their age. This can involve arranging playdates, participating in group activities, or joining community programmes. Such interactions will aid in developing their social skills, making it easier for them to form friendships and adapt to new environments. Preparing in these ways can greatly reduce the stress related to starting school, making the experience more enjoyable for everyone involved.
