More About Purple Parking

Purple Parking was originally a family-run business started by Jack Richard Inwards in his first garage in Ickenham, Middlesex in 1925. Michael Inwards, one of Jack’s sons, later managed the business and developed a chain of self-service petrol stations with convenience foods in 1970. While the idea of grabbing a snack when getting fuel is something that is taken for granted today, back then it all started with this family-run business.

Purple Parking further acts as a booking agent for other service providers offering airport parking services across major UK airports. From Purple Parking at Edinburgh Airport to the brand's partnerships with Hilton, Marriott and Holiday Inn; they’ve got you covered for all your airport parking needs. In 1987, Michael started his business named Secure Storage Ltd, which stored cards by the thousands on behalf of London Car Deals.

This figure hit 15000 vehicles by 1990 with two sites in West and East London. He then went on to open an airport Park and Ride service on his Southall site known as Secure Parking Ltd for Heathrow.

This involved 3 buses and around 10 members of staff. In 1995, his Meet and Greet service was introduced. Once all the different businesses were set up, Michael Inwards then changed the name of the business to Purple Parking and started selling airport parking via the internet at most airports across the country, including Purple Parking at Luton airport and Purple Parking at Bristol airport.
