Quite often Alan Farmer would randomly appear at many of these branches to check that staff were running the shop well and to the right standard. It became best known for its tights, lingerie, and sleepwear clothes, but did struggle at first to compete with other clothing brands such as Lewis Separates.
Dorothy Perkins was purchased by The Burton Group in 1979. The Burton Group later became known as Arcadia and was owned by Phillip Green.
The brand has had a range of different celebrity endorsements and partnerships over the years. Including Helena Christensen as the face of the brand in 1994 and Yasmin Le Bon a few years later in 1997. In 2012, Dorothy Perkins launched the Kardashian Kollection with Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian.
Throughout the brand’s history, it has launched many different ranges, including the Dorothy Perkins Maternity range (1993), the Petite range (1998), and the Dorothy Perkins Curve collection (2016).
