What personal skills do you need to be a Nurse?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

To be a good Nurse, not only do you need to have a degree in nursing, but you need to have the right personal skills to succeed as a nurse.<\/p>\n

Resilience<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nursing is a daily test of your character, patience and resilience. you will be thrown challenges outside of your comfort zone daily which you may not be prepared for and for obvious reasons it can be very demanding on an emotional level.<\/p>\n

Communication skills<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Essentially, Nurses are highly skilled problem solvers. You will need to be able to have the ability to solve problems in a matter of minutes or seconds. You will deal with a huge variety of patients in a wide variety of circumstances. And being able to successfully understand and remedy their problems all comes down to effective communication. You will need to be able to listen to patient as you may not always agree with them but it is extremely important that you show patients that you are there to listen.<\/p>\n

Flexibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A Nursing career demands flexibility in every sense. Nursing is rarely a 9-5 job, nor is it a job that presents a consistent routine. You must be available on demand. You might end up working 3 days a week on 10 long hour shifts or you might end up working every day but that is what you signed up for, to help others. However, in the end, it is a very rewarding job.<\/p>\n

The 6Cs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As an aspiring Nurse or midwife, it\u2019s worth also noting the NHS\u2019 \u20186Cs\u2019 \u2013 which are the values that provide a framework for all Nurses. These are care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.<\/p>\n
